Existing hardwood flooring can be one of the most beautiful features in a home, and sometimes the right approach isn’t to replace it—it’s to restore what’s already there.
We’ve had the opportunity to complete a number of projects for this homeowner over time. As part of their latest home improvements, the existing Tigerwood hardwood floors were professionally refinished, bringing new life to the wood while preserving the character that made these floors worth keeping.
Restoring Existing Tigerwood Hardwood Floors
Tigerwood is known for its rich color, dramatic grain patterns, and natural variation. Those characteristics give the flooring a distinctive look and make it a beautiful feature in a home.
Like any hardwood, years of everyday use can leave the finish looking worn or dull and make the natural color and grain of the wood less prominent.
In this home, the existing Tigerwood was well worth preserving. Rather than replacing the flooring, refinishing offered an opportunity to restore its appearance while keeping the original hardwood in place.
Refinishing Instead of Replacing
During a home renovation, homeowners often have to decide whether an existing feature should be repaired, restored, or replaced.
When hardwood flooring is in suitable condition for refinishing, restoration can make a dramatic difference without removing a quality material that’s already part of the home.
For this project, the existing Tigerwood floors were professionally refinished. The process renewed the surface and brought the natural variation of the wood back into focus.
The finished floors once again showcase the warm tones, contrasting grain, and character that make Tigerwood so distinctive.
Bringing in Specialized Expertise
Hansen Contracting & Repairs completes much of our residential remodeling, carpentry, and home improvement work in-house. When a project calls for a specialized trade, we work with trusted local professionals who bring expertise in their craft.
For this project, the Tigerwood hardwood refinishing was completed by Hardwood Solutions, a local hardwood flooring specialist. The existing floors were professionally refinished to restore their natural beauty and highlight the rich color and distinctive grain of the Tigerwood.
We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built with skilled local tradespeople who allow us to bring the right expertise to different parts of our clients’ projects.
Coordinating Projects With Multiple Trades
Home improvement and remodeling projects can often involve more than one type of work. Instead of homeowners having to find, schedule, and coordinate every contractor independently, working with a general contractor can help bring those different pieces together.
Whether work is completed by our own HCR crew or requires one of our trusted specialty trade partners, our goal is to keep the project organized and provide our clients with quality workmanship from start to finish.
A Fresh Look Without Losing the Character of the Home
One of the best parts of this project is that the floors don’t look like they were replaced with something entirely different.
They still look like Tigerwood.
The refinishing simply brought back the color, grain, and character that made the existing hardwood worth preserving in the first place.
It’s also a great example of how updating a home doesn’t always mean replacing everything. Sometimes an existing feature simply needs the right expertise and craftsmanship to make it shine again.
