Project Spotlight: Seamless Repairs After Home Repiping
Plumbing upgrades sometimes require opening walls and floors to access what's behind them—but once the plumbing work is finished, homeowners are left with another challenge: putting their home back together.
For this recent project, Hansen Contracting & Repairs completed repairs throughout the home after a repiping project. Our work included patching drywall throughout the house and repairing an area of existing hardwood flooring by carefully lacing in new boards, then sanding and refinishing the floor.
Restoring the Home After Repiping
Repiping can require plumbers to open drywall in multiple rooms to access pipes inside walls. Once the plumbing work was complete, we stepped in to repair those openings and restore the affected areas.
We patched drywall throughout the home, leaving the repaired areas ready for their final finish.
The homeowner chose to handle painting separately, but Hansen Contracting & Repairs also offers interior painting services for homeowners who want us to take the project from repair through the finished surface.
Lacing In New Hardwood Flooring
One room also required a section of hardwood flooring to be repaired.
Instead of creating a noticeable straight line between the old and new flooring, we laced new hardwood boards into the existing floor. This technique staggers the new boards among the originals, helping the repaired area blend naturally with the surrounding hardwood.
Once the new flooring was installed, we sanded and refinished the floor, bringing the old and new sections together for a smooth, cohesive appearance.
Repairs Designed to Blend In
Good repair work shouldn't draw attention to itself.
Whether we're repairing drywall after plumbing or electrical work, replacing a damaged section of flooring, or completing the finishing work after another trade, our goal is to restore the space so the repairs feel like a natural part of the home.
In this case, the repaired hardwood blends beautifully with the existing floor, while the drywall repairs are ready for paint whenever the homeowner is ready to complete the final step.
